Main purpose of role: To design on- brand visual assets for our customer facing interactive online products and services which maximize the regulator’s ability to influence behavior change within key customer groups, and meets the regulator’s business requirements, enabling effective customer engagement Focus for the 3 month contract (start ASAP) • Completion of the new visual overlay to support the 2 releases of updated navigation due January & March 2012 respectively, including the build of prototype site for usability testing* • Providing web graphical design skills and support to a strategy launch in January 2012 • Providing web graphical design skills to support the launch of the Qualifying Scheme Interactive tool in March 2012 including working on product and campaign material • Continuing work on expanding the online brand *the web team will provide support in the production of prototypes for user testing.
Main Duties/ Responsibilities
• Design and produce high-quality, on-brand and compelling, graphical assets to use on the regulator’s websites, e-learning products or Intranet • Ensure all the regulator’s online products comply with government web standards for accessibility and usability • Responsible for refining the clients online design language via the completion of the new visual overlay project • Design email creative that appeals in look and content to the segments being targeted • Ensure site design enhances, rather than compromises, site performance and usability
Skills/ Experience Required
• Established and proven digital design skill, with a strong varied folio showing web design and experience • Able to communicate rationale behind design work to non-designers • Flexible and responsive to feedback • Work well and speedily under pressure, able to prioritise work and manage time effectively • Obsessively customer focused, able to connect with regulatory audiences (via Personas) • Meticulous eye for detail • Team player, strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders across the business • Experience of usability and accessibility principles, standards and techniques in relation to web graphic design • Proven ability to use visual thinking, storyboards, sketching, and communication design to create compelling interaction designs • Ability to build working web product prototypes in Axure or similar package in readiness for user testing • Ability to work collaboratively with web developers • Working knowledge of o Photoshop o Illustrator o InDesign o Flash o HTML/ XHTML o Axure or similar o Dreamweaver o CSS o Javascript o Actionscript o Fireworks o MySQL. o CMS platforms
Evaluation Criteria
• Experience of B2B, ideally financial sector • Awareness of government web standards and guidelines • Previous experience of email marketing • Hands-on experience of web development • Experience of using OpenText Web Solutions 10 (formerly RedDot)
